Roll on Brexit. These animals are dying to get out of Brexit

EU bureaucracy has proved to be no great champion of animal welfare.

In Romania killing dogs has become big business. The more the strays breed the more money everyone makes from putting the dogs down. And don’t imagine its done humanely. The dogs are often given injections, which then go into the animals’ lungs causing them a slow and agonising death. Others are simply starved or beaten in the kill shelters. Neither the EU nor those who profit from it have any desire to curtail this stain on Romania’s international standing.

Animals in other parts of continental Europe fare little better. In Spain, a traditional culture rule means the EU effectively sponsors bullfighting. And in France foie gras continues to be as brutal a means of feeding as it gets.Although the UK ban on fox hunting remains largely unenforced, the UK’s
record on animal rights is better. In fact, once we’re out of the EU, we will be free to extend our welfare improvements without fear of veto or hindrance. Video cameras in slaughterhouses will be a huge step forward.

So Brexit means that the UK can set an example in standards of animal welfare that is long overdue in Europe. Why not support our campaign (seen in The Spectator below)? And give some help to the animals whose lives have not been protected by the EU.
