The Economist

Is there a point to having a law and not enforcing it?

We don’t think so. When Parliament passed the Hunting Act in 2004, it wasn’t intended as a token gesture. It was designed to change something that 85% of the British population found repulsive. But for some reason the government chooses not to enforce this legislation.

At Burnie’s Foundation we’re all for the police doing their job and not turning a blind eye to the suffering of foxes being torn apart by hounds for sport.

If you feel the same way, why not show your support? Join our campaign (seen below in The Economist), make a donation, and let your MP know that it’s time we upheld and strengthened the law. This government has made huge steps forward in animal welfare, putting it at the centre of political debate. But it can’t be right to govern the country by a nod and a wink at a police station.
