Sadly Mallorca suffers from a serious stray cat problem and neutering programmes do not seem to be high priorities for local municipalities – the result is that a few dedicated volunteers spend a huge amount of time and (their own) money trapping, neutering, returning and feeding cats who otherwise would keep breeding and condemning yet more cats to miserable lives of suffering, hunger, disease and all too frequently, gratuitous cruelty. Cat Protection Pollensa (https://www.catprotectionpollensa.com) is a new charity which does a fantastic job on exceedingly limited resources. It is exactly the type of focused, committed and effective charity Burnie’s Foundation would like to support.
